4.5!!!! At the beginning, i was a bit put off by the fact that this is a younger read and that Percy Jackson was only 12 years old but this amazing book proofed me wrong. It has everything a reader wants to get them hooked. It's action packed, funny, a great world development as well as great friendships. I have to admit if i read this when i was younger i would have rated it a 5/5 definitely but i am 18 so it's still a tad bit childish for me. I LOVE IT ANYWAYS!!!

The story takes on about a boy who finds out he is a half-blood (half human and half god) and learns that he has to go on a quest whilst battling monsters. The characters are so likeable with Percy Jackson and his sidekicks Annabeth and Grover. The friendship between them are so sweet and i really like the background stories of the Greek gods as well as the whole creation on how they have kids with the mortals which makes this book so unique and fun to read. In some books where there's a lot of action packed scenes, authors tend to try and put a lot of detail in the actions and sometimes if not done properly can get the scenes end up being confusing and hard to imagine. However i have found the best writer so far at writing such stories and it is Rick Riordan. Literally, i felt like i was the one fighting monsters, as if i was there myself.

Even though i kind of knew who was the bad guys and the plot twists were coming, it felt good to know i was right. It made me smile so much and i feel like this book was such an easy read (even if i say so myself). I haven't had that motivating feeling in ages and this book made me want more. Definitely carrying on!!!
